POST 7: CHANGES TO MY STUDY PROGRAMME
Hi everyone, I'm currently studying graphic design. Among the subjects I have to study there have been many related to industrial design and not graphic, and in my opinion that isn't very efficient. So, I feel like I have wasted time I could use learning more about graphic design matters, such as color theory, typography, adobe software and other digital tools, web design and even photography and video editing skills.
I have complains about that because, for example, when it came to animation, I had two instances where I could learn about it but it was just too short. In one of the subjects from last semester, we had more time to do an industrial work that to do the graphic work (which was animation/motion graphics). And, I took last year a class focused on characters & animation but we barely learnt something.
In terms of workload and length of studies I think that sometimes the amount of work per week can be overwhelming, but with time you learn how to respond to stress and how to manage study and projects. The length of the career seems ok to me, I wouldn't make it shorter or longer.
The faculty facilities are something where I have divided opinions. When I look at them I find them nice, friendly and cozy, but on the other hand I think that some classrooms need maintenance. The tables are usually very battered, the stairs could have a roof above them and some other areas too because when it rains it is difficult to be outside. This also happens with the cafeteria, it is an uncomfortable experience to have lunch there almost all winter.
In technology, well, the pandemic has make it more difficult. But, other than that, I think it's necessary to add more tech tools related assignments once we are in the faculty again, because many of us haven't practice enough with adobe software, for example.
Last, in matters of teaching methods I think that as long as the teachers consider mental health, respect and a safe environment for the students everything will improve. I have had teachers like that and it really improves my learning ability and general performance.
it is a pity that they do not meet the expectations you had regarding your career ;(
